Come see the talented performers of Coastal Dance Theatre Society (CDTS) stage the classical ballet Swan Lake Act 2 as well as a commanding mix of contemporary pieces.

Audiences will be impressed by the sharp and shifting energy of the choreography by local artists such as CDTS Artistic Director Micaela Archer-Shee, Karla Hodge, Georgia Skinner, and our guests Cobequid Young Company.

Coastal Dance’s youth Performance classes will also present the symphonic children’s tale Peter and the Wolf created by Micaela Archer-Shee and Carol Jedidi.

Coastal Dance Theatre Society (CDTS) is a Dartmouth based, not-for-profit, youth performing company.   CDTS provides an opportunity for aspiring young dancers to perform in a professional setting. The dancers perform both classical and contemporary works by local and nationally acknowledged professional artists.    

“CONCERTS FOR CHILDREN”  colourful and popular productions such as  THE SNOW QUEEN,  ALICE IN WINTERLAND and  NUTCRACKER.   Thousands of N.S children have enjoyed their first theatrical  experience with us at the beautiful Alderney Landing Theatre.

“IN CONCERT” Spring Showcase offers a challenging amalgamation of Contemporary and Classical pieces.   Each year, the dancers perform an adaptation of one of the great classics, such as Swan Lake, Giselle or La Bayadere… a challenge indeed and a delight for dancers and audience alike. As well, the dancers perform exciting Contemporary pieces by local and national artists.

CDTS 2023 /2024

YOUTH PERFORMANCE CLASSES 

Our dancers performance careers start with performance classes.

Dancers may  be selected at the age of 9 around the grade 3 level of dance and can progress through the 3 levels until they are technically ready for a full Coastal Dance Theatre (CDTS)company membership.
Youth Performance class dancers participate in the CDTS Christmas productions like “Nutcracker”, “Alice in Winterland” and “The Snow Queen”. They also perform in the CDTS Spring Season “In Concert” series doing ballet and contemporary pieces .
Youth Performance class dancers may also prepare our touring show  “Peter and the Wolf” for an elementary school tour in the Spring.
