Tax Credits

The Federal and Nova Scotia governments have programs in place to encourage participation in structured physical activity programs. Coastal Dance is pleased to support these initiatives and will provide the necessary receipts.

The following information is excerpted from the respective government department web sites. It is suggested that you visit their websites to be current with any changes to the programs.

Government of Nova Scotia - Healthy Living Incentive

Coastal Dance is a registered participant in this program.

Class fees for students 17 years and younger are eligible for the Nova Scotia Healthy Living Tax Incentive. This tax credit, or healthy living incentive, provides an allowable tax expense per child to help with the cost of registering children and youth in sport or recreation activities that offer health benefits. Prior to January 1, 2007 the amount per child was $150.00. As of January 1, 2007 this amount was raised to $500.00 per child per year.

Receipts will be made available in January/February for the previous calendar year.

Parents/guardians MUST keep their registration tax receipts in order to claim the credit on their tax return.
